Death takes two boys at inauguration. President Webster Two Hawk opened his inaugural address on a sad note as he expressed sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd One Star and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bear Robe, both of St. Francis, in the unexpected death of their sons. They died minutes before the inaugural ceremonies were to start in Digmann Hall after being trapped in an open sewer trench near the hall and were covered with caved in sand. Cecelia Bordeaux, 80, died August 6, at a Valentine, Neb. hospital. She was laid to rest Sunday, 2pm Aug. 9, at St. Francis Mission Cemetery after services at St. Charles Church. Survivors include her husband William Benjamin (Ben). Sisters: Mrs. Rosalie Iron Shell, Mrs. Olive Keller, Mrs. Eva Stead, Mrs. Louise Moore, and Mrs. Mary Little Dog. Three daughters: Mrs. Marie Emery, Mrs. Viola Packard, and Mrs. Leona Frankie. Three sons: Cleveland "Buzz" Bordeaux, Melvin Bordeaux, and Robert (Beau) Bordeaux Sr. Also left to mourn were 48 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren. Ceceilia and Ben were married in January 1911. They lived in the Hidden Timber area for six years before moving to St. Francis. She was a long time member of the Catholic Daughters, St. Francis Alter Society, and the St. Francis Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. ((Rosebud Sioux Herald, 17 August 1970)

Mrs. Lucy Elk Looks Back, about 70 years old, the sister of Isaac Bear Shield of St. Francis has died. The funeral was last week at St. Francis Mission. She is the mother of Mrs. Theresa Quigley of St. Francis. (Rosebud Sioux Herald, 28 September 1970)

Dana Farmer, 32, of St. Francis, has died following his arrest and confinement in the Rosebud Municipal Center's jail. Funeral services were set for last Friday at St. Charles Church in St. Francis. Mr. Farmer was born Mar. 22, 1939. He was survived by his wife Alice and mother Louise Farmer. (Rosebud Sioux Herald, 7 June 1971)

Charles Iron Shell, a local tribal member who has lived at Hastings, Neb. for many years, was born April 5, 1891 and died Jan. 8 at the age of 79 years, nine months and three days. He died at Hastings and his body was returned to St. Francis Jan. 11 for a wake. Burial was on Jan. 12 at St. Francis. He was married to the former Rosalie Dubray and he is survived by her and these children: Viola, Minerva, Theresa, Marlene, Calvin, Eugene, Charles Jr., and Freddy. Also one brother, Issac, the councilman from Upper Cutmeat, and several granchildren. (Rosebud Sioux Herald, 18 January 1971)

Larry Left Hand Bull, 24, had completed computer training in Los Angeles and stayed for a job. He died Feb. 17 after being stabbed. Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at St. Francis where he had graduated from the Mission High School there. A wake was held Feb. 21 and 22. Mr. Left Hand Bull wsa survived by his wife, the former Marion Brave, and two sons. They were expecting a third child. He was also survived by a sister, Mrs. Iona Carrasco of Colo. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Left Hand Bull and his mother, the former Lydia Turning Bear. He was born June 19, 1946. (Rosebud Sioux Herald, 1 March 1971)

George Omaha Boy, 75, who had seen the deaths of two of his sons in recent months, died last week. He was survived by these children: Marcella Little Elk, Bertha Good Buffalo, Ethel Lance, Sharon Randall, Daniel Omaha Boy, Lena Omaha Boy and Philomene Omaha Boy. Preceding him in death in recent months were Herbert and George Jr. (Rosebud Sioux Herald, 22 June 1970)

Goldie Mary Whipple was killed Aug. 1 at Kearney, Neb. Funeral services were scheduled for 2pm Aug. 7 at St. Charles Church with burial at St. Francis Mission Cemetery. She was born Oct. 30, 1925. She is survived by her mother Mrs. Lillian Beads of St. Francis. Also two sons: Arlo and Keenan Lame Omaha. Also three sisters: Evelyn Stands, Alice Four Horns, and Lorraine Metcalf; a brother, Clement Stands. Philip Stands American Legion Post at St. Francis was named for a brother.
