1970 John Guerue Jr. American Legion Post at Parmelee has elected officers for 1970. Elected April 17: Ben Stead, post commander; Norman Wilson, vice commander; Roger McMath, adjutant; Joe "Bad" Waln, finance officer; Simon Broken Leg, the service officer; Lemoyne "Peewee" Millard, sgt-at-arms. Standing committees were to be selected at a special meeting Friday. William "Buck" Spotted Tail was detailed to acquire information and stock for the high school "shake down" rodeo coming up soon. Military News

Army SP/4 Garfford T. High Pipe, 23, has returned to Vietnam for his second tour of duty there. He is the son of Eli High Pipe Sr., Parmelee. Assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, High Pipe was awarded a Bronze Star medal for heroism during his previous duty in Vietnam. He also holds the air medal and combat infantryman badge. He is a 1966 graduate of Todd County High School in Mission. (Rosebud Sioux Herald, 18 January 1971)
