The Schrader/Schroder and Martin Families
The photograph above shows my father's mother, Magdelena "Lena" Renner, with her grandparents William and Maria Katharina (Martin) Schrader circa 1900. William and Katharina were married 3 Mar 1859 in Freudental, Grossliebental District, Odessa Region, Russia. They came to the United States in 1889 to homestead in Butte County Nebraska near Naper.
Lena married my grandfather, Philip Roether, on 27 Dec 1900 in Naper, Boyd, NE. They eventually homesteaded in Gregory County South Dakota after the Rosebud Indian Reservation was opened to settlement. My father, Leonard George Roether, was born in Herrick, SD.
